Rob Bartlett has been working as a recording engineer and producer for over forty years. He is also a musician, composing works that could be described as “character pieces” due to the unique sonic landscapes they conjure in the listener’s imagination.

Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, he relocated to Calgary, Alberta in the mid-seventies. While continuing to perform “live”, he also began working at the Sundae Sound Recording Studio. Over the next twenty-one years, Rob would play, record, produce sessions, and eventually co-own the facility.

“Rob’s ears are golden. Combine that with his easy-going yet professional manner, extensive knowledge base, and “get it done” approach to every situation… and we always have an incredible show when Rob is on the board!”

Suze Casey, Artistic Director, Calgary Folk Club

He has had the privilege to work with legendary artists Ian Tyson, Amos Garrett, and Cindy Church (Quartet) of Stoney Plain Records. Rob engineered and produced Paul Brandt’s first single. He has also worked in the rock world with the undeniable punk-rock band Chix Diggit for the Sub-Pop label, and Heuvos Rancheros of C.Z. records. In the Celtic genre, Rob cut two excellent CDs for BMG recording artists Scatter The Mud and “A Twist in the Tail” for award winning piper Anne Gray of the prestigious Celtic label, “Lismore”.He has done sessions with legendary bluesmen Charlie Musselwhite, CDs for JUNO nominees Johnny V, Tim Williams, Back Alley John and many, many other great artists.

Rob has recorded a number of projects of his own original material. “On The Mesa” and “Surround Scapes” feature richly textured acoustic/electric instrumentals that sound as much like soundtracks to a movie, as a CD of songs.
